Junior Lawyers Division Charity Ball

2010

YOUNG professionals let down their hair and helped raise charity cash at the annual Bristol Junior Lawyers Division Charity Ball.

Members of the Bristol JLD attended the masquerade themed ball at the Ramada Hotel in the city on Friday.

The event helped raise around £1,000 [precise figure unknown at present] for the group's charity of the year, BrAMS, Bristol and Avon Multiple Sclerosis, which is part of North Bristol NHS Trust Charitable Fund.

Shaun McCarthy, who has MS and is Fundraising Manager for BrAMS, came to the Ball and talked after dinner. Shaun said” this was a fantastic evening which I enjoyed very much and on behalf of BrAMS, I would like to thank the Junior Lawyers for organising a great event, which helps us provide help now and hope for the future. BRAMS is a leading MS Centre of excellence, which offers latest treatments, research, drug trials and also has a team of leading Consultant Doctors, MS Specialist Nurses and Physiotherapy.

The bumper collection adds to a spectacular £586 raised by a charity quiz held by the group last month.

JLD charity coordinator Rachel Warren of Ashfords Solicitors said: "The night was a great success, we are pleased to be involved in an event to raise money for a charity that provides both treatment and hope for MS sufferers.''

Around 168 guests, ranging from students from Bristol Institute of legal Practice to members of the Bristol Law Society, enjoyed a tasty four-course meal as well as entertainment, music and disco.

The Bristol JLD Ball was proudly sponsored by the Bristol Institute of Legal Practice, Wesleyan for Lawyers and Old Square Chambers with welcome drinks reception courtesy of the College of Law.
