BrAMS Bridge 2 Bridge Rickshaw Challenge

On the 25th of May 2012, three rickshaws will set off from Clifton Suspension Bridge, on an epic four day journey across the country. Destination Tower Bridge London. 130 miles in 120Kg Rickshaws. Those who can, will be pedalling, and those how cannot will be in the back.

This event is to raise money for the Bristol and Avon Multiple Sclerosis Centre (BrAMS) at Frenchay Hospital. The centre is unique. It has a growing dedicated team of MS Specialist Neuro-Consultants, Nurses and Physiotherapy.

The centre researchs pioneering new treatments for the future. The most exciting of which is its ongoing research into Stem Cell therapies. It was the first in the world to inject MS patients with their own bone marrow stem cells. Initial results are very positive, which could help many people with MS in the UK and beyond but larger trials are required.

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is an incurable progressive illness, where the person’s own immune system attacks the nerve fibres in their nervous system, causing disability. The centre is charity funded and is in continual need of financial support.
